Wider Education Thru Music Participation
This project is funded by a grant from the Charles T. Beaird Foundation.

WEMP is a program designed to introduce music and the appreciation of music to the young as well as the old. Students are introduced to various percussion instruments from around the world. They are taught a brief history and origin of each instrument, along with how each distinctive sound plays it's role in building rhythm. Students are given the opportunity to discuss how rhythm effects our daily lives.

Goals
WEMP works towards the reinforcement of hand-eye coordination, while increasing fine and gross motor skills. WEMP motivates spontaneity as a form of creative thinking while stimulating fun and learning.

WEMP engages individuals in healthy relaxation and promotes stress management through the use of music for the mind, body, soul, and spirit.

Objective
To promote fun and learning through music participation by allowing individuals to experience through hands on learning the simplicity of music and to realize their potential to make music.
